Aston Martin has hinted at new body options for the DBX.

Even ultra-luxury brands like Bentley and Lamborghini have SUVs accounting for nearly 50% of their sales.

Aston Martin is just about to enter that fray with the handsome DBX, but don't expect the automaker to rush to launch a second SUV lineup. There will likely be additional DBX body styles, such as a coupe-like model or a stretched seven-seat version.

This information was revealed by Marek Reichman, executive vice president and chief creative officer of Aston Martin, in an interview with GoAuto published on Tuesday.

"[The size] will not decrease. 'It won't necessarily be bigger, but the capacity may be smaller. The wheelbase may stay the same, but the box may get a little bit smaller."

By launching an additional body style for the DBX, Aston Martin will be able to grab a bigger slice of the SUV pie with a much smaller investment than if it launched a second SUV line.

The good news is that the DBX is a success. CEO Andy Palmer said last week that the 2020 production quota has been filled and orders for 2021 are being taken. According to Reichman, 50% of the orders are coming from customers who are seeing the DBX for the first time.

The DBX will arrive at U.S. dealers in late 2020. Prices start at $189,900.
