A low-mileage Lamborghini Miura once owned by the Saudi royal family is up for sale.
A 1972 Lamborghini Miura SV with royal pedigree is up for sale in London. The seller, exotic car dealer Joe Macari, claims it is the lowest mileage Miura in existence.
Carscoops spotted this Miura for sale. A late variant of the groundbreaking Lamborghini SV supercar used the same transversely-mounted 4.0-liter V12 as the previous Miura, but with a different timing distribution and more powerful Weber carburetors. It was also one of only 96 cars to utilize a split crankcase oil system, separating engine and transmission lubrication. Power was 385 hp, 0-60 mph acceleration was less than 6.0 seconds, and top speed was 180 mph.
One of only 150 SVs produced, the car was originally supplied to the Saudi royal family. According to the listing, the car was one of two Miuras fitted with front aerodynamic shields, an attempt to distinguish itself for a high-profile client.
Upon arrival, the car was apparently quickly forgotten and reappeared in the early 2000s under a pile of cardboard with only 3,800 kilometers (2,361 miles) on the odometer; it was exported to the United States in 2005 and fully restored within two years. According to the seller, this is when the car acquired its current gray color and orange leather interior.
In 2008, the Miura was sold to a successor sprinkler company, in 2010 it was purchased by a European, and in 2011 it went to Joe McCarley. The current mileage is 5,759 kilometers (3,578 miles)
The asking price is $3,217,543 at current exchange rates. By comparison, a 1969 Miura P400 S found in a garage in more deplorable (but original) condition was sold at auction in 2019 for $1.6 million. At that price, a Lamborghini Countach with 83k miles for sale in Canada also looks like a bargain at $562,709.
