2025 Jeep, electric SUV "Wagoneer S" with 600 hp, coming this fall
Jeep confirmed Thursday that the Wagoneer S will go on sale in the United States this fall. The timing indicates that this electric mid-size SUV will be available as a 2025 model.
The Wagoneer S was first unveiled in 2022 along with an electric off-roader called the Recon and an electric subcompact crossover called the Avenger. The Avenger was Jeep's first EV to go on sale in Europe in 2022. According to Jeep, there are no plans to bring that vehicle to the U.S.
. The Wagoneer S will first be sold in the US. Sales will then be expanded to other major markets around the world, making it Jeep's first global EV.
The Recon will also be sold in the US first before being expanded to more markets. Jeep has not provided an update on the Recon's launch date, but at the time of the 2022 reveal, the Wrangler replacement said sales would begin in 2024.
The Wagoneer S was designed to bring Wagoneer-style luxury to the world. It will also offer Jeep's off-road expertise, but will combine this with EV performance. According to Jeep, owners can expect 600 horsepower, 0-60 mph acceleration in about 3.5 seconds, and 4xe all-wheel drive technology.
To increase efficiency, the Wagoneer S is more aerodynamically styled than a typical Jeep. The most distinctive feature is the grille that extends backward, which also features LED accents.
Jeep has not revealed technical details, but it will likely use parent company Sterantis' STLA large EV-specific platform.
Jeep's Wagoneer full-size SUV is expected to go electric next year with a series plug-in hybrid option that uses a small battery charged by a gas engine. Ram, also a Sterantis brand, is introducing such a configuration on its 2025 model year 1500 Ramcharger. A battery-only full-size Wagoner EV is expected in 2027, according to UAW documents released last fall.
