Land Rover launched the Defender with a V-8 engine last year, but a more hardcore V-8 engine option is still in the planning stages. A prototype of the Defender SVX has been spotted, revealing several key details. The prototype features quad-tip titanium exhaust along with widened wheel arches, raised suspension, mud flaps, and BFGoodrich all-terrain tires. Tires are wrapped around 20-inch wheels, sized 275/60 front and rear.
It is not clear what engine is mounted under the hood. The Defender V8 is powered by Jaguar Land Rover's supercharged 5.0-liter V-8 engine with a maximum output of 518 hp, but the Defender SVX is already equipped with the latest Range Rover and Range Rover Sport, BMW's twin-turbo A 4.4-liter V-8 engine may be installed; BMW's V-8 engine delivers 523 hp in these luxury SUVs, but the higher output is more suitable for the hard-core Defender.

Jaguar Land Rover's Special Vehicle Operations was close to launching the Discovery SVX several years ago. The model would be powered by a V8 engine and upgraded for off-road use and was supposed to establish a new off-road range for SVO, similar to the division's track-focused SVR series and the ultra-luxury SVAutobiography series. Although the Discovery SVX was ultimately cancelled, Jaguar Land Rover did not rule out the possibility of a future SVX.
