The McLaren 750S will reportedly be the successor to the 720S this fall.

Production of the McLaren 720S will end at the end of 2022, but a successor is on the way.

McLaren's president for the Americas, Nicholas Braun, recently hinted that the successor will be a significant update to the 720S, saying that it has already sold out through most of 2024. He also said that dealers received deposits from prospective 720S buyers only after they learned that the older model was no longer available.

"Automotive News" (subscription required) published a report Thursday citing anonymous sources and noting that the new supercar will be called the 750S. Following McLaren's alphanumeric naming strategy, the 750S will have 750 metric horsepower, or 740 hp, 30 hp more than the 720S.

According to sources, the car will stick with the 4.0-liter V-8 twin turbo found in the 720S and will not be electrified. McLaren said in 2018 that it plans to make all its cars hybrids by 2025, and the 750S will likely be the last McLaren powered purely by a gas engine.

The styling will also be new. It will reportedly feature a new front mask, larger side intakes, a more prominent rear wing, and a digital instrument cluster similar to that found on the Artura plug-in hybrid. There will also reportedly be a significant increase in personalization options compared to the 720S, so customers will no longer have to go through the MSO department to add a special flair to their cars.

Sources also say that the car will be unveiled in April ahead of the September sales launch and will be available in both coupe and convertible body styles when it goes on sale. Prices are reportedly 10% higher than the 720S, starting at $310,500 including destination.
